The answer is: yes, only if the LED bulb uses less power than the fixture. Even if the label says "100 W LED equivalent", this does not mean that the bulb actually uses 100 W, but it produces the equivalent of 100 watts of incandescent bulbs. For example, a socket of no more than 60 watts refers to the danger of high heat output associated with incandescent bulbs. However, LEDs do not emit dangerous heat. Therefore, even if the luminaire displays “not to exceed 60 watts”, you can use it safely if you want to use a 100 watt equivalent LED bulb.

But why is LED more efficient? The answer is that they don't use heat directly to make light. Because incandescent bulbs heat metal as an illumination source, they emit a wider range of radiation. Although incandescent bulbs emit visible light, they also emit invisible radiation, such as ultraviolet and infrared rays, which consume more energy. Additionally, LEDs emit radiation only in the form of visible light - a narrower spectrum - making them significantly more energy efficient.
