PFC is the acronym for power factor correction or power factor controller. It minimizes the amount of reactive power produced by computers. Active PFC uses electronic circuits in efficiently distributing power to devices connected to the power supply.
Power Factor Correction. Many loads are highly inductive, such a lightly loaded motors and illumination 24 volt LED Transformer and ballasts. You may want to correct the power factor by adding parallel capacitors. You can also add series capacitors to "remove" the effect of leakage inductance that limits the output current. Importance of Power Factor for 12V LED Power Supply. A power factor of one or "unity power factor" is the goal of any electric utility company since if the power factor is less than one, they have to supply more current to the user for a given amount of power use. In so doing, they incur more line losses.
